Hello FANS,
Well. this year is another great weekend for the blues for one of the longest running Blues Festival in Ontario, the Porquis Blues Festival on July 8,9,10th, 2006.
Yes! It was three days of BLUES live and sorry but I only was there for Saturday. Sure I wish I could have made it for the Friday afternoon and on til midnight and not being there for the Sunday breakfest for pancakes and the jam but one day was good enough for me!
Maybe if there was a really big name in the blues like David Gogo, Jim Brynes, Morgan Davis, Sue Foley, Tony D Band, Steve Hill, Philip Sayce, Johnny V, Wild T or the great Powder Blues Band for names?
The first act up was called, "the Shaftmen", blues standards and their original music which stood up to the blues standards. I really like the song called, "Shaftmen Boogie", Emms said that George Thorogood has a interest in this song. It sure does fit his style for sure. They have another hit in Timmins called the "May Run" which is not to bad!
Sorry no pictures my roll didn't take, SHIT!
The one and only Charles Angus and friend did a pretty good job but he played bass this time out. Ah! Angus stick to the guitar or get a better guitar player sorry to say.
Hurtin Blues Band came out next and did a great job with Mrs Brown on drums boy she still has a great voice!
Bob Willis was a new face and did a good job laying down the groove to some blues too!
Now on to the pictures I did get and well the best the camera that I did have for this event of BLUES!
I just had to thro in my old friend and his friend having some fine time listening to the blues live! I think it's his third time comming out to the festival.
The first batch of the pictures are with Carlos Del Junco and his band whom blow a mouth harp so mean that it hurts. He even did an workshop in the big house beside the hockey rink which was very interesting to hear his veiw of the blues using a harmonica.
Now here's a group of women that can belt the blues so loud I couldn't have been in Kirkland Lake to hear them! LOLO
Now on for more...
SAB always does a great job when he's on stage and give 100% to the music. The man can sure get eveyone going on the dance floor too!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
It's the 10th Anniversary next year and I heard there's going to be an CD maybe?
