This is my first time for the "Friday Night's" line-up, since the start of a three-day weekend event. The acts are mainly from Northern Ontario which ranges from Sudbury to Kapuskasing. The first band to hit the stage and open the weekends festival is "The Highway 11 Blues Band", whom played some fine BLUES with a touch of ROCK for an edge to the music. It's thier first time to the festival which the singer told over the air waves and did a great job, plus they had some of thier own true fans along for the ride too.

This fellow is the main singer of the group

The Jennifer Plummer Band from Iroquois Falls ...

The next to hit the stage a running is a pair of beauties in the "Jennifer Plummer Band", thier music was a mix of Pop Rock to Folk with a touch of Blues for good luck. Jennifer has a very good strong voice for her style of music which is not really the BLUES! The bass player can also sing up a storm and she helps in the writing of some songs too. Well, that's what Jennifer said over the mick to the crowd. Thier guitar player is a very good six stringer and does prove it more in his own set, which I will talk about later for his set. He gives a hard edge to Plummer's music which I think should use this guy more often.

WeaselBone from Timmins...

Now the name "Weaselbone" does has alot to say but for one thing it's good Chicago Blues sound with some West Coast Style Blues thrown in for good luck and taste too. This band I first seen at Timmins's Booze & Blues Bash. The guys are from Timmins and can stay a float with the best of them and do thier very own tunes too. The singer has a very strong Chicago style voice and Rick Sarvard can also play some fine slide guitar too. The band has two guitars for a nice rounded sound for thier style of BLUES! The band also has two CDs out for sale and can get from the local music stores in Timmins. Get a Web site boys!

The Paul DeSalle Band from Sudbury ...

The "Pual DeSalle Band" came onto the stage and just blew me away with his fine playing on the guitar. He can really put some meat into his playing and also has a very different voice but rather good. One song he did a really good version of is "Signed, Sealed & Delvered" but the whole set was very good. Which made me by his CD from the CD Tent. The CD Review is at the end of this night's review ok folks. Keep Rockin' with the BLUES, PAUL....

The two Jennifer's get up and sing a Rockin' tune with Paul.

The Barrelhouse Blues Band

The "Barrelhouse Blues Band" is a striaght ahead "Blues Rock" band, whom played thier songs to the hilt! It's a two guitar attack style for the music they performed, which focus on this fully. I seen them before at the "Booze & Blues Bash" in Timmins too. They blew me away then and agian that Friday night! These guys was the band to close out the night in grand style! I remember a few songs but not them all, so anyone that remembers any please let me know okay?

So in whole this Friday Night was just great and I do hope it carries on for a few more years to come! I do hope to see more hometown bands for the friday night spot, well Northern Artists anyhow. It's a night to show the talent in the north,so keep them coming out of the wood work, so of speak! LOL
