This place will be information that is for my tastes
mainly and more related to the "Blues", which I have the most interest
in at this moment in my life! As you can see from my main homepage
it's the BLUES and nothing but the Blues related theme, I'm trying
for in all.
Gary Moore been doing the "blues" in his music
for sometime now, off and on in the early days thru "Skid Row" (no concerns
to the 90's band) , then "G-Force" and on to "Colosseun" group while in
the "Thin Lizzy" group, and then right into his own band. He also
done alot of session stuff which I will touch on later too. But to
me the time he started with the very first all blues album is his 1990,
on Virgin Records, called; "Still Got the Blues".
Which is an great album with many songs that stand out
besides the title cut! Songs like Albert King's "Oh Pretty Woman
& As the Years Go Passing By", plus Albert Collins song, "Too Tired",
and got to mention Otis Rush's "All Your Love". These songs just
took the lp to the top with both Albert's playing their top notch for each
song too, but "Texas Strut, King of the Blues & Midnight Blues" are
right along side those others mention by other great legends of the Blues!
Then the second all blues album came out called, "After
Hours", I was just floor by the guitar work on this and the selection
of tunes on it too! Even through this lp has many great blues standards
like "Since I met you Baby" with BB King at his best too, and "the Blues
is Alright" with Albert Collins just being what Albert does best, play
like there's no tomorrow in site.
All of these blues greats with
the exception of Otis Rush, was on either one of his live videos, "Evening
of the Blues and Blues Alive". If you don't have these in you
collection then get on it fast! The video "Blues Alive", is
also on cd too, which to me the video is always better than hearing him,
but seeing is the next best thing to a live show, if one can get it in
there area, country, state, and town! Mail-order sometimes fixes this little
problem of getting the music we do love. Getting back to the "After
Hours" album which had two Peter Green related songs, "Key to Love" from
John Mayall's Hard Road and "Jumping at Shadows" from Fleetwood Mac's "Jumping
at Shadows" lp, recorded live in Boston-1969. This live lp has an great
"Black Magic Woman" version of it's raw power at it's best, lot better
than Santana has ever done with that tune!
Which brings us to the next stage of Gary's guitar
playing and grand tribute to Peter Green called, "Blues for Greeny",
on Virgin Records still...
This cd is Gary's best playing to date! I hope
many do agree with me in the guitar tone he's gotten on this cd, it's an
true mesh of Moore and Green together by heart and soul for the music and
the songs which were a hit then and now! When I watch the video documentary
of Fleetwood Mac w/ Peter Green from the late 60's to the very early
70's, doing their music with the rawness of the Chicago Blues which they
all loved from the deepest spot in their souls! If you are an fan of
Fleetwood Mac's music when they had only three guitarist, which to me was
the true guts of the band and never even got close after that, sorry "Rumours"
was good but it's not the Blues! So if it's great Blues, get this cd of
Gary Moore's and the videos that are sold in stores or try to obtain them
by trading with other collectors of the blues.
Hello
Well, since I first done this tribute page to Gary Moore, there's been a few more CD's out. The first one after "Blues for Greeny" is "Back to the Roots", the title says it all. Even as a great classic blues song from the great late, T-Bone Walker, called, "Stormy Monday"! It's a version that can't be miss! The CD is full of top blues in many styles, which is expected from Gary Moore these days!
The very new one that's out is Heavy METAL Blues, LOL. The CD will take a hold of you and make you take a step back and three forward! I think it's one of his best since the first of his blues CD's (Still Got the Blues), which that CD took a whole new spin on Mr.Moore from the rock scene we know him for then. The new CD is called, "SCARS" It's very RAW and HARD EDGE music...
GARY! Keep it up and don't let yourself get close to the same old blues! SPICES come in handy for the blood to flow in a different direction!!!!!
SORRY FOLKS!!!
Gary has a few more CD's out then I just mention above! I guess I've been in the DARK! Below is a list of the CD's out since the very first blues CD from Mr.Moore. "Still Got the BLUES!"
